I hope that this email is useful, and that you are able to spend a few minutes at noon each day, as we pray together as a church family.  Please do keep sending your prayer suggestions to me, so that we can make sure we are praying around the needs, burdens and encouragements of our whole church family.

Praying for the Parish

Please pray this week for all in these roads:

  • High Ridge
  • Highfields

The Collect for 3 - 8 May

Almighty God,
who through your only-begotten Son Jesus Christ
have overcome death and opened to us the gate of everlasting life:
grant that, as by your grace going before us
you put into our minds good desires,
so by your continual help
we may bring them to good effect;
through Jesus Christ our risen Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.

Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus. Acts 8:35

Father of all, thank you that when you sent Philip to share your good news with the Ethiopian he met, you showed that all those who had been excluded could be included in your family. Please help us this week to share the gospel with those around us, so the invitation to be in your family continues to spread. Amen

Please also pray today for Côte d’Ivoire.

Loving Father, we pray today for the country of India as it battles its second wave of COVID, coping with a huge, dense population, limited resources, and a thriving black market. We pray especially for wisdom for national and local decision-makers, and for comfort for those who are suffering without the support we take for granted here. Please would you help the churches as they minister to the communities around them. Amen

Please also pray today for Croatia.

Lord Jesus, take me this day and use me.
take my lips and speak through them.
Take my mind and think through it.
Take my will and act through it,
and fill my heart with love for you. Amen.

Please also continue to pray today for Cuba.

Lord, as churches in our own country continue or resume services and mid-week activities, we pray for revival to come in our communities. We pray for all those who are lost, grieving, fearful or hopeless to find the peace that only you can bring, through the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus, who took our punishment so we could have life. Amen

Please also pray today for Cyprus.

God of compassion,
whose Son Jesus Christ, the child of Mary,
shared the life of a home in Nazareth,
and on the cross drew the whole human family to himself:
strengthen us in our daily living
that in joy and in sorrow
we may know the power of your presence
to bind together and to heal;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Please also pray today for Czechia.

Heavenly Father. we thank you for the lifting of restrictions and our kind volunteers who are enabling our Children’s Church to open again from tomorrow. As children return to age-specific activities for the first time in fourteen months, please would you help the whole group to have fun, but most importantly of all, to grow together in the knowledge and love our our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen
