My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ (Colossians 2:2, NIV)

We often use the word ‘mystery’ to describe something that we don’t know, might never know, or might be restricted to certain people. When Paul uses the word, he is describing something we do know and can all know: Jesus Christ. At the centre of the Christian faith is one man, Jesus. This is the mystery that Paul wants us to understand, to know, and to grow in.

You would be very welcome to join us at our 10:30am service in St Andrew, Cuffley, or at 8:30am for a service of Holy Communion in St Thomas, Northaw, this Sunday, as we continue to look at Paul’s letter to the Colossians, and how we can continue and grow in our faith.

The 10:30am Sunday morning service will be taking place simultaneously online and in-person at St Andrew.  Streaming for the 10:30am service will start at 10:25am, and can be accessed directly via Facebook or YouTube, found on our website, and is advertised on our Facebook page and YouTube channel.

If you encounter problems with viewing the service via Facebook (or YouTube) please follow the link for YouTube (or Facebook) instead.

Children’s Church

Our children’s church meets this Sunday morning in the Undercroft (underneath the main building). Children are welcome from 10:20, and will join us in the main part of the building at the end of the service.

4pm Service

From the Vicar:

At our Vision Sunday, I announced the intention to start a 4pm service at St Thomas, lasting for about 45 minutes. I’m aiming for a less formal service, with a more contemporary feel — something slightly different to that which we normally do. This will be an experiment, running for 8 Sunday afternoons starting in October. For this first try, we’ll be looking at the whole story of the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation. There will also be cake!

I'd love for you to join us for these afternoon services. It would be really great to have as many as possible exploring the storyline of the Bible together. If you felt able to serve some refreshments after the service, that would be really helpful.

We’re going to begin on the 16th of October.  If you have any questions, or might be willing to help, please be in touch with me (07446 516945 / 01707 699030, chris@norcuff.com).

Annual Memorial Service

Our annual memorial service will be on the afternoon of Sunday 6th November at 3pm at St Thomas, Northaw. At the service we will remember by name those known to the church who have died in the Iast three years; there will then be the opportunity for everybody to light candles in memory of loved ones, whether departed recently or long ago.

Email invitations will go out at the beginning of next week, if you would like to be added to the contact list, or know someone who would, please sign up online.

Start Course

Do you, or anyone you know, have questions about Christianity, but have never quite got around to asking? You’re always welcome to speak to Chris, the vicar, but you may prefer to meet with a group of others. Our friends at King Charles the Martyr are running the Start Course on seven Wednesday evenings in October and November, where you can find out more about the Christian Faith, and ask all the questions you would like. More details are available on their website. There are also some cards available at the back of both church buildings.

Morning prayer

You would be very welcome to join us for a short service of Morning Prayer in St Andrew at 10:00am on Wednesday morning.

Coffee Shop

Our weekly in person Coffee Shop will be taking place this Wednesday from 10:30 to 12:30 in St Andrew, Cuffley, you are very welcome to join us.

Our Vision Sunday was on the 11th September. You can catch up with the service online via YouTube, you can listen to the sermon and some future plans via SoundCloud.

If you are on our contact database, there is a vision pack with your name on it available at the back of St Andrew. If not, there are some unnamed ones that you would be very welcome to take.

If you want to catch up with the Vision Sunday sermon, it’s available to listen to via SoundCloud.

Supporting Ukraine

As well as our prayers, there are various appeals raising funds to support those fleeing the conflict and those who cannot leave. Two that you might like to consider are:

The Diocese of St Albans also has some details on some ways we can help support Ukraine.

We are also able to support the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain via the Foodbank. More details of what they are collecting for and what they need are available on our [website][https://norcuff.com/ukraine].
