I hope you have continued to pray with us together at noon, despite a short break from these emails during the vicar’s holiday. Here are the prayer suggestions for this week, including some prayers and verses from this year’s online Keswick Convention. Please do keep sending your prayer suggestions to me, so that we can make sure we are praying around the needs, burdens and encouragements of our whole church family.
Monday
Loving Father, we pray today for the countries in the Horn of Africa who are facing famine after a second wave of locust attacks on their crops. Please would you help other countries to be aware and find resources to help, despite the problems already caused at home by COVID-19. Would you grow generous hearts in those who can make decisions about aid, and help individuals to find ways to contribute as well. And please help those who are in despair over the loss of crops to find their hope in you. Amen

Tuesday
Lord God, you call us in the depths of our being,
You have a purpose for us.
Open our ears to your call,
Open our hearts to your love, open our minds to your purpose
That we may know you and give ourselves fully in your service. Amen.

Wednesday
“Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.” (Psalm 62:8)
God our refuge, we pray for our own homes and our wider families. We pray for our church, that it would be united, growing in faith, hope and love; we pray that it would hold out the message of Christ to a needy world. We pray for ourselves as members of our church; please help us to offer gospel hope to those in our lives who don’t yet know you. Amen

Thursday
O Lord God, from whom we come,
In whom we are enfolded,
To whom we shall return.
Bless us in our pilgrimage through life,
With the power of the Father protecting,
With the love Jesus indwelling,
And the light of the Spirit guiding,
until we come to our ending. Amen

Friday
“But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. I call out to the Lord, and he answers me from his holy mountain.” (Psalm 3:3-4)
Where we feel that things are against us - worldwide events, other people in our lives, our circumstances, or even our own sinful natures - we call out to you, Lord God, and ask you to be our shield, our comforter, and the one who lifts our heads. Help us to look up, and to see your glory and rest in your love. Amen

Saturday
Eternal God, Creator and Father of all,
We thank you for this wonderful world,
For ever-changing skies, the blessed winds, and the earth beneath our feet.
We thank you that your Son gave life’s loveliness in sacrifice for us.
In our turn, and in great humility, we offer our lives.
All that we do and all that we say, we give in joyful and willing service to You. Amen.
